List Of Countries Affected By Coronavirus In Africa

In Africa, as at March 14, 2020, 26 countries have been infected with the virus.
The virus was transported to the countries through a foreigner coming in or a national travelling to any of the infected countries.

At least 26 of the 54 countries in Africa have reported and confirmed one case of Coronavirus outbreak or more. 

The virus, which has continued to spread globally, has put the world in panic mode as stocks are crashing and all countries are activating measures to curb the spread.

In Africa, as at March 14, 2020, 26 countries have been infected with the virus.

The virus was transported to the countries through a foreigner coming in or a national travelling to any of the infected countries.

A total of 142,539 confirmed cases were reported with 5,393 deaths. 

Of the figures, China has 57 per cent cases with 80,851 people infected and 3,199 deaths.

Within the last 48 hours, infected countries increased by 12 (Sudan, Trinidad and Venezuela, Antigua and Barbuda, Puerto Rico, Cayman Island, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea and Kenya) making a total of 135 countries.

Countries affected in Africa include Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote D'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Namibia, Seychelles, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Gabon, Guinea, Mauritania, Rwanda, Ghana and Sudan

In Nigeria, no new case of COVID-19 has been recorded after the two confirmed cases.

Apart from the index case, a total of 48 people have been screened for COVID-19 in eight states (Edo, Enugu, FCT, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, and Yobe) out of which 47 tested negative and have been ruled out.

The index case has been confirmed clinically stable at the treatment facility for COVID-19 while the second confirmed case, who was a contact of the index case, has tested negative twice.
