BREAKING: FCT Commissioner Of Police, Bala Ciroma, Replaces Magu As Acting EFCC Chairman

Magu was removed from his position by the Presidency following his arrest and detention on Monday for alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Bala Ciroma, has been named as the new Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He replaced Ibrahim Magu on Tuesday after successfully scaling through a screening exercise.

Magu was removed from his position by the Presidency following his arrest and detention on Monday for alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

He was accused of owning four houses and involved in moving large amount of cash outside Nigeria through third parties.

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), recently accused Magu of mismanaging Nigeria’s recovered loot from foreign nations.

Meanwhile, Ciroma on his part is described as a shrewd crack detective, who had showed exceptional qualities throughout his over 25 years in the police.

A Muslim and native of Yobe State, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography from the University of Maiduguri in 1988 before bagging another degree at Hong Kong University. 

He had served as Head of Operations, EFCC, Abuja, and also as Commissioner of Police in Plateau State before his latest appointment.
