A source within area alleged that cult members were responsible for the attack on the policemen.

He said the attackers came in through Orupolo waterside and opened fire on the policemen.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Rivers State Police Command, SP. Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the development.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, had directed that investigation into the matter should commence and that the police command should find the perpetrators.

"I can confirm the development where one of our men was killed. The Commissioner of Police has ordered for investigation. I am not aware that the criminals took guns belonging to the policemen,” Omoni said.
