The group had given Nigerian government 30 days to constitute the board or risk total shutdown of the Niger Delta region.

The ultimatum expired on Tuesday, May 25th.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that the IYC President, Peter Igbifa, was taken to an unknown destination by some masked gunmen on Tuesday while on his way to the International Airport in Port Harcourt.

While it was initially thought that the assailants were kidnappers, fresh information suggests they might be government security agents trying to prevent the shutdown of the area.
