One Rescued, 13 Vehicles Destroyed In Tanker Explosion Along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that the vehicles destroyed in the accident on Tuesday were six tankers, five trucks, and two cars.

No fewer than 13 vehicles have been burnt in a fuel-loaded tanker explosion that occurred at Ogere town, Ogun State along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) disclosed that the vehicles destroyed in the accident on Tuesday were six tankers, five trucks, and two cars.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Mr. Ahmed Umar, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said one person had so far been rescued and taken to a private hospital in Ogere.

He also urged motorists plying the road to use alternative routes.

“The fire is serious, six tankers, five trucks and two cars are burnt in the explosion.

“Vehicles moving inbound Lagos should go through Saapade-Ode/Remo-Iperu-Sagamu to relink Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

“In addition, vehicles moving inbound Ibadan should also go through Sagamu-Iperu-Ode/Remo-Saapade to relink Lagos-Ibadan expressway,” he said.
