On Wednesday, kidnappers invaded the village in an attempt to abduct some villagers but youths armed with weapons pursued the criminals.

A source, who spoke with SaharaReporters, said the kidnappers hid in a rock close to the town and the youths, who went after them in a bid to capture them, surrounded the rock. [story_link align="left"]96787[/story_link]

Unfortunately, a company which houses its staff in the area had contacted some soldiers who, rather than ask questions, shot at the youths gathered at the place, the source said.

Initially, three persons died instantly while 10 of them, who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital. In a recent development, four of those taken to the hospital have also lost their lives while the remaining six are still in the hospital.

He said, “Yesterday, kidnappers entered the community; when the kidnappers entered the town, the youths of the town stopped the kidnappers from operating. The kidnappers later discovered that the youths had local guns, the kidnappers ran away and hid inside the rock.

“As at yesterday, after the report, a government delegate arrived there and asked villagers to go back home. He said he will look into the issue and they returned home but the kidnappers escaped.

“At the moment, seven people are now dead, as against yesterday's figure of three persons."
