Swiss National, Driver Abducted In Ogun, Spend Three Days In Kidnappers' Den

The policemen engaged in a gun battle with the gunmen and two men were killed.

A Swiss national identified as Andred Beita and his driver who were abducted along Itori-Ibese road in Ogun State, are yet to be freed by their abductors.

The abductees have spent three days in the den of the abductors since their abduction on Sunday.

DailyPost reports that the two were coming from Ilaro with the policemen attached to them when the some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, suddenly opened fire on their vehicle.

A staffer of the farm, Micheal Kujore also lost his life to a bullet from the gunshots of the gunmen while the Swiss and his driver, were consequently whisked away.

It was learnt that as at Tuesday, police are still on the trail of the kidnappers.

The Ogun State Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen that police were working with local vigilantes to locate the abductees and rescue them unhurt.

He added that the command is on top of the situation.

Kidnapping for ransom has turned into a lucrative business in the country.

Students, health workers, traders, farmers, chiefs and foreign nationals have been held by the rampaging gunmen.

Millions of naira have been paid in ransoms by families of those kidnapped; though the police said they were never a party to any of them.
