BREAKING: Nnamdi Kanu’s Hearing: Nigerian Soldiers, Policemen, Others Cordon Off Abia High Court

The resumed hearing of the suit filed by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra by his lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, on September 7, 2021, was supposed to go on this morning.

Security agents have cordoned off the premises of Abia State High Court at Umuahia at the resumed hearing of Nnamdi Kanu’s human rights’ suit against the Federal government and seven others. 

The resumed hearing of the suit filed by the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra by his lawyer, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, on September 7, 2021, was supposed to go on this morning.

The matter is coming up before Justice K.C.J Okereke of the Abia State High Court, Umuahia.

According to a journalist, Duncan Odey, the security operatives comprised of the army, the police and others who blocked all the entry points to the court house, allowing only court workers, judges, lawyers and a few media personnel to get through. 

Other journalists were turned away.

It will be recalled that at the last hearing of the matter on September 7, there was also a sizable number of security agents deployed at the perimeters and premises of the Court, including a large contingent of soldiers. 

At the time of filing this report (8:40am), the courtroom where the matter will be heard is still under lock and key and lawyers and others were observed milling around, waiting for the courtroom to open.
