Sources said the APC council chairman was flanked by thugs with dangerous weapons during the congress.

The suspected thugs allegedly launched an attack on supporters of another leader of the APC in the area, Salisu Sani Ogu, who was a former commissioner for works in the state.

There are speculations that the victim may not survive his current ordeal, as doctors are still battling to save his life in the hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

The council boss was installed as a caretaker chairman for Idah; however when time came for election, he allegedly resorted to arms.

A source said, “Security agencies in the local government area where the chairman holds sway, and the state government have not taken any action against the unfortunate development.

“The unpopular local government boss has vowed to terminate any political gladiators and their supporters in the local government and coerce them into submission, for antagonising him or his council administration.

“His flair for political crises is legendary having embarked on a series of actions that destabilised the smooth administration of the local government.”

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello had sacked Hillary Amodu as the Administrator of Idah Local Government Area in December 2019 and appointed Odoma.

Odoma, until this appointment as local council chairman was Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Affairs (Idah Federal Constituency).
