Nigeria's Police Chief Says People Responsible For Lagos Building Collapse Will Be Punished

The police boss who arrived at the scene in a convoy of police cars and with heavy security went straight into the compound.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba on Tuesday visited the scene of the recent building collapse in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State where over 50 people were trapped

Addressing journalists, the police boss said investigation into the incident would commence, adding that "anybody found to have compromised" will be punished. [story_link align="left"]100764[/story_link]

Usman had earlier departed the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, to visit the scene of the building collapse in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

A senior policeman in the state had affirmed that the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, and other senior policemen in the state were waiting to receive the IGP at the airport in Ikeja.

“The IGP is coming to Lagos to visit the scene of the collapsed building in Ikoyi. The IGP is already airborne and could land any moment from now," he had said.
