According to the group, El-Zakzaky has no interest in contesting or seeking any political position.

The statement read, "Our attention has been drawn to a poster linking Sheikh Zakzaky to the presidential ambition of former Governor of Kano state, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

"This is the handiwork of some mischievous people to further their sinister motives.

"The fact that Sheikh Zakzaky is a respected Islamic scholar and Sen. Kwankwaso a well-known politician is enough in itself to show the folly of those behind this illogical contraption.

"Sheikh Zakzaky will never contest any political positions in Nigeria. Though as a Nigerian he has the right to do so, he is an Islamic scholar and will never belong to any political party.

"We call on all and sundry to disregard that poster that hasn't the blessings of the Sheikh and the politician."
