One of his victims, who raised the alarm on Tuesday over threat to his life by Bolade, told SaharaReporters that he had to exit Clubhouse when he perceived he was in danger.

An aspiring politician and founder of Gencol General Services, a company registered in the United Kingdom, Abiodun Bolade widely known as AbbeyGovernor, has been accused by some Nigerians of using the name of prominent Nigerians, including former Vice President of the country, Atiku Abubakar, and ex-military dictator, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), to threaten people on various social media platforms.

Bolade, who also runs a non-profit organisation, is said to be notorious for sliding into various groups on WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and Clubhouse to harass young Nigerians, especially those with a bias for the agitation of Biafra and Yoruba nation.

One of his victims, who raised the alarm on Tuesday over threat to his life by Bolade, told SaharaReporters that he had to exit Clubhouse when he perceived he was in danger.

"AbbeyGovernor is going on various social media groups and chat rooms to threaten people. He threatened me on Clubhouse and said he would do everything to destroy me.

"This is a guy that has boasted to know IBB and Atiku. He is always everywhere opening rooms and looking for the pictures and contact information of people.

"They have submitted the list of some of those agitating for Biafra, Yoruba Nation and the development of Nigeria to the Department of State Services (DSS).

"A guy was stopped at the airport, his phone was searched and he was asked for his Clubhouse account. The name of his Clubhouse link is International Politics and Nigeria," the young man, who asked not to be named for safety reasons, said.

Speaking further, the complainant disclosed that Bolade always boasted to those he was threatening that Atiku was an executive of his UK-based company and that he could deal with anybody the way he wanted.

However, when SaharaReporters checked with the body responsible for registering companies in the UK, neither Atiku or any other prominent Nigerian were listed as directors of Gencol General Services as allegedly claimed by Bolade, according to those accusing him of threatening their lives.

According to the Certificate of Incorporation issued to his company on April 28, 2016, which was obtained by SaharaReporters, only Ademola Bolade is the name listed as the Company Director, Secretary and shareholder.

"AbbeyGovernor is just dropping names of powerful Nigerians to threaten and extort people on social media. The authorities should check his activities now before he causes problems for many young Nigerians," another complainant said.

Messages sent to Bolade by our correspondent over the issue were not replied to as of the time of filing this report.
