Four Feared Dead As Another Lagos Building Collapses

Four persons are feared dead while five other persons were rescued from the rubbles with varying degrees of injury.

A building under construction in Magbon, Badagry area of Lagos, has collapsed on Wednesday. 

According to a report by Vanguard, four persons are feared dead while five other persons were rescued from the rubbles with varying degrees of injury. SaharaReporters gathered that efforts are ongoing to rescue others.

It will be recalled that on Monday, November 1, a 21-storey building located on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos collapsed with 44 confirmed dead and 15 rescued. 

The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Margret Adeseye, who confirmed the recent incident, said immediately the distress call was received, firefighters from the Badagry station were mobilized to the scene.

She said, “There has been a reported case of a storey building collapse at Sunny Filled, Flour Mills, Estate, Magbon, Badagry, Lagos.

“The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Badagry Station, has rescued five victims from the building that is under construction, while concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue remaining trapped victims.

“The victims, who are mainly construction workers, were rescued with varying degrees of injury, but in stable condition and have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

“However, four adult males have been recovered unconscious thus far as the Nigerian Police, Morogbo Division and the community dwellers are complementing the efforts of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.”
