SaharaReporters learnt that the lawmaker died on Thursday morning in a private hospital where he had been receiving treatment since Saturday, December 4, when he was shot.

“He died this (Thursday) morning after battling for his life for over a week,” a source from the politician’s area said.

The local government councillor representing Ward 5 in Ethiope East Local Government Area had been battling for his life following the gunshot wounds he sustained from the incident.

The kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had blocked the Eku-Abraka Road around 5:30 pm on that fateful day and fired several bullets at the councillor’s car.

He was reportedly hit in the stomach.

But when SaharaReporters called the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, he said he did “not have any information like that”.
