Adamawa Governor Spends Three Days In Communities Threatened By ISWAP Ahead Of Christmas

December 21, 2021

SaharaReporters learnt that Fintiri on Friday embarked on three days confidence boosting visit to the area.

To allay the fears of Christmas season attacks threatened by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has spent three days in some of the communities under threat.
SaharaReporters learnt that Fintiri on Friday embarked on three days confidence boosting visit to the area.

The visit, as learnt, was welcome by the residents and gave them some hope of a peaceful yuletide.
SaharaReporters had on December 15, 2021, reported that the ISWAP faction of the Boko Haram terrorists sent threat letters to attack some communities in Adamawa State during the Christmas season.
Residents of Bazza in the Michika Local Government Area had told SaharaReporters that the letters were dropped in public places around the town, warning the residents of an impending strike.
Rattled by the threat letters, some indigenes of the area, who usually celebrated Christmas at their family compounds, had cancelled the visit this year.
Ezra Drambi, said, "this Christmas season would be different because I'll be here (in Yola) due to the letters dropped by Boko Haram.
"We'll celebrate this year's Christmas in Yola, despite the governor's assurances of security; for me the risk is not worth it. I've already evacuated my mother and my mother-in-law to be with us.”
In the same vein, Kwada Michael, said, "I've moved my family to Song, where we'll hopefully have our Christmas festivities together with my brother and his family.”
However, for Tumba Lamba, "nothing stops me from going home; not even any threat letters. Governor Fintiri just returned from the area, therefore, I'll be home for Christmas by God's grace", he added.
Meanwhile, five insurgents were reportedly neutralised by troops of the Nigerian Army at Hembla, in the Madagali Local Government Area, shortly before Governor Fintiri visited the area last week.
Hembla is about ten kilometers from Michika.
