Three Killed As Nigerian Army, Bandits Exchange Fire In Kaduna

The Village Head of the Community, Joseph Sauri Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the gun duel between the bandits and the soldiers lasted about three hours.

Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly engaged bandits in a fierce gun battle in Kaduna State.

SaharaReporters learnt that the bandits had attacked Unguwar Musa, Tudun Wada Kudansa in Maraban Rido, in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Three bandits were said to have been neutralised as two soldiers reportedly sustained gunshot injuries in the encounter, which sparked tension in the community.

The Village Head of the Community, Joseph Sauri Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the gun duel between the bandits and the soldiers lasted about three hours.

SaharaReporters further learnt that the bandits invaded the community around midnight, on a mission of abducting some residents.

"About 10 persons who had been abducted were reportedly rescued by the troops", Garba said.

The Spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Jalige Mohammed, could not be reached for comments as of the time of filing this report.
