The Speaker of the House, Nasiru Mua’zu, had at the resumed plenary read a letter from Governor Bello Matawalle nominating Senator Muhammad as his deputy.
Meanwhile, Mahdi Gusau, the former deputy governor was, on Wednesday impeached hours before Hassan's appointment.
Senator Hassan is representing Zamfara Central Senatorial district.
Gusau was impeached after the House received the report of a committee set up by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Kulu Aliyu.
He was allegedly involved in a case of gross misconduct and abuse of office and a panel was set up to look into the issue.
The seven-man panel, led by Retired Justice Halidu Soba, submitted its report to the State House of Assembly complex in Gusau, the state capital.
