Terrorists Return To Kankara Community In Katsina As Police Rescue Four Victims

Kankara LGA was where the bandits struck at a government secondary school, abducting scores of pupils before they were later released after payment of undisclosed sums of money.

Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command, on Friday, repelled a terrorists’ attack on two villages of Gidan Nasheku and Kwantakwamawa in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the command, Gambo Isah, the police had received a distress call from the two villages and immediately intervened leading to the rescue of four kidnap victims.
Isah further stated that during the attacks, the kidnapped persons included four members of a household, all females, one of them having a one and half-year-old baby.
The Divisional Police Officer of Kankara division led a team of policemen to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, he said.
The kidnappers fled while all the kidnapped persons were rescued unhurt.
Isah further added that some of the terrorists were reasonably suspected to have fled the scene with gunshots wounds, as a team of policemen are presently scanning the scene to arrest the terrorists or recover their dead bodies.
He said that investigation was ongoing.
