Man Clubs 75-Year-Old Father To Death In Adamawa

A 31-year-old man, Nicodemus Ignatius has clubbed his 75-year-old father to death in Adamawa State, SaharaReporters learnt.

Ignatius was said to have returned home at about 8:00 pm on the tragic evening, met his father and mother in the room and locked both of them inside.
 
"Fearing his son might set fire to the room, the old man escaped through the window; unknown to him his son had armed himself with a stick with which he hit him till he died," a neighbour said.
 
Another source informed SaharaReporters that Ignatius had some time in 2021, threatened to kill his father. Following the threat, he was detained by the police.
 
Speaking to SaharaReporters at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Yola on Thursday, Ignatius confessed to beating his aged father to death with a club.
"I was under the influence of Indian hemp on the day; now it feels so terrible that I've killed my own father," he said.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, also confirmed the incident.
 
He said, "The accused will be charged to court upon completion of our investigation."
