Their killing has since led to the eruption of violence in the area with young men from Gbagyi spoiling for war and searching for Fulani herders to take their pound of flesh.
Frightened by the outbreak of violence, residents of the area have been fleeing their homes to avoid being caught in the middle of the crisis.

"Gbagyi boys have retaliated and everybody is running away. There is tension everywhere," a resident of the area, who spoke with SaharaReporters, said.
The spokesperson for the police in Niger State, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, when contacted by SaharaReporters confirmed the situation, saying, "Though details of the incident at Azhi-Kasa village are still sketchy, policemen and other security agencies with vigilante members have been mobilised to beef up security in the area."
