Nigerian Military Police Arrest Soldier With ‘Stolen Ammunition’

A military signal obtained by SaharaReporters also confirmed the incident.

The Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police (NACMP) has arrested a soldier, Momoh Sunday with service number 17NA/76/0820 for being in possession of illegal ammunition.
 
A military source who disclosed this to SaharaReporters said Sunday was nabbed at the gate of Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri with about 300 rounds of 7.62mm special.

“A serving member of the personnel was arrested in Maimalari Barracks here Maiduguri with live ammunition on his way out of the gate and was arrested by military police on stop-and-search at the entrance,” the source said.

“AT ABOUT 10825A MAR 22, 17NA/76/0820 PTE MOMOH SUNDAY OF 19 BN DAMBOA, WAS APPREHENDED AT MAIMALARI CANTONMENT MAIN GATE 1, MAIDUGURI WITH 300 RDS OF 7.62 MM SPECIAL BY 7DIV PROVOST GROUP IN CONJUNCTIONS WITH OWNS INT OPR AND HAS SINCE BEEN TAKEN TO MP GUARD ROOM FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS,” the signal read.
