Panic As Petrol Tanker Explodes In Lagos

NAN reports that the explosion occurred at 1:30 p.m. According to eyewitnesses, passersby observed that the tanker was leaking and drew the attention of the driver to the leakage.

There was panic in the Ijora Badiya area of Lagos state on Thursday when a tanker laden with gasoline exploded at Ijora Palette Junction beside Lagos State Homes Estate.
NAN reports that the explosion occurred at 1:30 p.m. According to eyewitnesses, passersby observed that the tanker was leaking and drew the attention of the driver to the leakage.

The driver reportedly got down and attempted to use a fire extinguisher before it exploded.
Meanwhile, firefighters and officers from the Ijora Badiya Police Division have been drafted to the area to ensure the security of lives and property.
They eventually put out the fire.
No life was lost in the accident, it was learnt. 
The police have since diverted traffic from the road to prevent traffic congestion and hoodlums from attacking innocent citizens.
