The suspect was described as an arms smuggler for some gangs of bandits in Kaduna.
The police have arrested a 36-year-old leader of a gang of bandits, Ahmed Yunusa, aka Yellow Ashana.
Ashana and his gang were said to have been terrorising communities and road users along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. But he was said to have been on the run after a raid that led to the death of a member of his syndicate, Yellow Magaji alias Arushe.
Ashana was arrested by officers of the Police FIB-STS.
He confessed that he was behind the kidnappings on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and deadly attacks on Kadara town in Kaduna.
The suspect also confessed to kidnapping and killing one Hafsat Isah, lured into their camp by her friend, Ladi Sale.
Sale has also been arrested by the police.
Also, 36-year-old Mrs Nvou Michael from Vom LGA, Plateau State, was intercepted along Samminaka/Jos highway in Kaduna.
She had 15 locally made rifles and 400 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK47 ammunition concealed in a Toyota Hummer heading to Kaduna from Jos.

Additionally, one Nuhu Yakubu, a 33-year-old male from Donga, Taraba State, was caught while conveying 1,500 AK47 ammunition from Wukari to bandits in Donga Forest.
The FIB-STS equally apprehended Idris Abdulwahab, 26-year-old, and Adams Ibrahim, 37-year-old, both from Okene, Kogi State.
They were linked to major bank robberies in Ondo State, and in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi in 2021; they killed a security guard, Daily Post reports.
The suspects specialise in the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to forcefully gain access into banks.
They were caught with N1,880,000 at a checkpoint in Isonu, Kogi, while heading to Okene from their forest hideout.
