Only 1.3million Nigerians Have Valid PVCs, Permitted To Vote In 2023 – Electoral Body, INEC

Speaking at a media conference in Abuja, the Commission's Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said only those in the fee fraction are eligible to vote in the 2023 general elections, Daily Trust reports.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Wednesday, says only 1,390,519 Nigerians have valid permanent voters cards.
Speaking at a media conference in Abuja, the Commission's Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said only those in the fee fraction are eligible to vote in the 2023 general elections, Daily Trust reports.

According to him, 45 percent of total registered voters in the country are invalid, a development he described as very challenging.
“This is a challenging development,” Daily Trust quoted him as saying.
He added that of the 18 registered political parties in the country, only 10 of them had notified the commission of their primaries. 
He urged the remaining parties to do the needful and for all the parties to strictly follow the electoral laws and other guidelines.
