Five Persons Kidnapped In Anambra On Easter Monday After Wedding Party

It was learnt that the abducted persons had attended a traditional marriage ceremony of a cousin to the Commissioner for Special Duties, Sly Ezeokenwa and were on their way back when they were kidnapped at gunpoint.

No fewer than five persons have been kidnapped by gunmen in Akpo community, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State on Easter Monday.
It was learnt that the abducted persons had attended a traditional marriage ceremony of a cousin to the Commissioner for Special Duties, Sly Ezeokenwa and were on their way back when they were kidnapped at gunpoint.

The Commissioner who confirmed the incident noted that the victims were kidnapped at about 10pm on Monday in Akpo and that no contact has been established with them or the kidnappers.
He said “The following friends of my cousin – Sampson Okafor, Chidozie Eze, Franklin Osuuagu, Chijioke Uduba, Benedict Ozoagwu who visited for his traditional marriage yesterday (Monday) were kidnapped at gunpoint at about 10pm last night in Udo Village, Akpo (Aguata LGA) along Akpo – Nkpologwu road about 300m to Akpo Junction. We are yet to establish any contact with the victims.”
The state Police Command spokesperson, DSP Toochukwu Ikenganyia also confirmed the development. He asserted that the command had launched an operation to rescue the abducted persons.
He said, “The Command has already made contact with the Honorable Commissioner for special duties, Mr Sly Ezeonkenwa and operation is currently ongoing for possible rescue of the victims.”
