The politician popularly referred to as ‘Dancing Senator' explained that he had observed the suffering of the people under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, noting that his governance would pay more attention to alleviating poverty in the state.

However, he informed those present at the campaign ground that he had not just come with naira notes but with Euro, pounds sterling and dollars.

He said in Yoruba, “Osun people, you are the one to decide. Don't be scared, if it's about money, I have brought loads of cash. The money is not only in naira, we have brought dollars, pounds sterling, Euro. This time around, it is fire for fire.”

In 2018, Adeleke had pulled a total of 254, 698 votes, 353 votes higher than his rival from the APC, Gboyega Oyetola.

The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where voting was cancelled.

Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape, declared the poll inconclusive.

In the rerun of the election, Oyetola was declared the winner with a total of 255,505 votes while Adeleke had 255,023 votes.

Subsequently, Adeleke was detained by the police after honouring their invitation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

He was accused of taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) with a muddled identity in order to beef up his credentials for the governorship election that was then upcoming.
