Nigeria Union Of Teachers’ President Beats Senate Majority Leader To Win Kebbi APC Governorship Primaries

Idris who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), emerged as the winner after defeating the Senate Majority Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi and retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Abubakar Mallam.

Nasir Idris, National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Kebbi state.

 

Idris who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), emerged as the winner after defeating the Senate Majority Leader, Yahaya Abdullahi and retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Abubakar Mallam.

Idris had 1,055 votes while Abdullahi had no vote.  Abubakar Mallam had 35 votes.

 

The chairman of the APC Kebbi governorship primaries (National Secretariat), Idris Yahuza Ya’akub, declared the outcome of the election early morning on Friday.

 

In his acceptance speech, Idris commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for making it possible for the party to conduct the primary election peaceful and without any hitches.

 

He thanked the delegates and members of the party for their trust in him.

The chairman of the state’s committee for the primary election, General Muhammad Magoro, appreciated the governor for providing the necessary moral and material support that led to the success of the exercise.

 

While speaking to the elected APC governorship candidate, Bagudu told him that leadership is a burden which demands perseverance, goodwill and absolute service to humanity.
