Delta Youths Set Ablaze Vehicles, Properties As Nigerian Army Personnel Kill 27-year-old Resident

The 27 years old youth had on Monday gone on snail hunting behind the Forcados Terminal (pipeline bush), when he was shot dead by one of the soldiers.

Youths of Ogulagha community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have destroyed company vehicles and properties following the killing of a community youth by one of the soldiers attached to Forcados Terminal, SaharaReporters has learnt.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that the 27 years old youth, identified as Endurance Kalaepele and five other youths had on Monday gone on snail hunting behind the Forcados Terminal (pipeline bush), when he was shot dead by one of the soldiers attached to the Forcados Terminal.

Confirming the report, the community youths president, Thankgod Iyaragba, disclosed that “The deceased and five other boys of the community went on snail hunting behind the Forcados Terminal, pipeline bush and on their way, they were confronted by the military men attached to the Forcados Terminal.

“With fear in his mind, Kalaepele tried to run away and before he could know what was happening, he was shot twice at close range by one of the soldiers at about 11pm. Following the incident, our community youths took to the street and damaged some vehicles and properties belonging to company and barricaded major roads in the community to show our displeasure."

Calls put to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, for comments were not responded to.

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that as at the time of this report, the situation has been brought under control.
