Nigerian Army Armourer Arrested For Selling AK-47 Rifles, 1,200 Rounds Of Ammunition To Colleague

SaharaReporters gathered that the suspect, identified as Ssgt Mamman Ishaku was indicted after Asoga and his driver were arrested with the stolen arms and ammunition.

A Nigerian soldier attached to 31 Artillery Brigade has been arrested for selling two AK-47 rifles and about 1200 ammunition of 7.62mm special to his colleague, Ssgt Hassan Asoga of 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

 

SaharaReporters gathered that the suspect, identified as Ssgt Mamman Ishaku was indicted after Asoga and his driver were arrested with the stolen arms and ammunition.

It was learnt that Ishaku has been detained and put in a cell by the military police.

 

“On 25 Jun 22 at about 1000hrs, phone call received from Comd 3 MIB Gen Adekola requested for arrest of above named suspect, Armourer, 31 Arty Bde Gar on the allegations that he sold 2 X AK 47 rifles and about 1200 ammunition of 7.62mm special to one Ssgt Hassan Asoga of 6 Div Gar Port Harcourt who was arrested on 25 Jun 22 and detained under 3 MIB for further investigation,” a military signal exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters read.

 

“Based on the information received which led to the arrest of Ssgt Mamman Ishaku, on 25 Jun 22, troops deployed at Ibbi, Taraba State intercepted vehicle belonging to Ssgt Asoera Hassan and his driver while trying to cross River lbbi.

 

“He was subjected to thorough search alongside the vehicle and driver where 2 X AK 47 rifles and about 1200 ammo of 7.62mm special were discovered. During the preliminary interrogation of the first suspect, it was revealed that Ssgt Mamman Ishaku sold the rifles and ammo. The 96NA/43/9466 Ssgt Mamman Ishaku of 31 Arty Bde Gar had since been arrested, handed over to one Lt JU Waba (N/18788) and moved to 3 MIB under escort for further investigation.”
