BREAKING: Tinubu Postpones Official Unveiling Of Kashim Shettima Amid Controversy, Pressure To Drop Running Mate

Shettima was meant to have been presented to party members at the APC National Secretariat on Thursday afternoon, but the Chairman of the APC Press Corps told reporters the event would no longer hold.

Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress has postponed the official unveiling of former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate for the 2023 election.

Shettima was meant to have been presented to party members at the APC National Secretariat on Thursday afternoon, but the Chairman of the APC Press Corps told reporters the event would no longer hold.

It was learnt that a new date would be disclosed soon.

The postponement may be connected with the controversies surrounding the choice of Shettima, a Muslim from the northern region, as Tinubu’s running mate.

Tinubu is a Muslim politician from the southern region while Shettima is from Muslim-dominated northern Nigeria.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the Northern Christian political leaders of the ruling party rejected a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket adopted by the party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

This was revealed in a communique of the meeting of all Christian leaders of the party across the 19 northern states of Nigeria.

They expressed their displeasure over the manner by which President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC stakeholders handled the issue of Bola Tinubu's running mate and further asserted that it would certainly result in a massive revolt against the party, among Christian faithful nationwide.
