SaharaReporters had on Monday reported how the members of security outfit allegedly opened fired and killed the young men on Sunday evening following a viral video where tens of people were seen gathered around a Hiace bus that fell into a ditch, where the bodies of the victims were reportedly seen.

The people in the video were heard crying and calling for revenge, threatening to wipe out the family members of the Ebube-Agu Security outfit that participated in the alleged killings.

Ejiofor stated this in a statement titled, “A State that eats up her own is DOOMED" on Monday in Abuja while reacting to the incident called on well-meaning individuals to condemn the barbaric act, and further seek justice by calling the Imo State Government to question.

He also called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime were brought to book.

The statement read, "It is with a very heavy and broken heart that I demand for an immediate probe into the gruesome killings of 14 unarmed and innocent civilians by the Ebube-Agu outfit set up by the Imo State Government.

"We reliably gathered that 14 able bodied men who were all in their primes, were gruesomely murdered by the Imo State Ebube-Agu Security Outfit, while returning from a traditional wedding ceremony this past weekend.

“They were waylaid by the trigger-happy and soulless Ebube-Agu militia and gruesomely murdered around Mgbidi, in Imo State. This barbaric act is totally condemnable, unacceptable and an unforgivable crime against humanity.

“How did we get here??? How can a state hack up her young ones in thIS most gruesome manner? What is the difference between these monstrous Ebube-Agu militia and those they were purportedly set up to eradicate? The difference is that the killer Ebube-Agu militia have the backing, the license and authority of the State Government to kill without being called to question. Enough should be enough! Every well-meaning individual must rise up and condemn this atrocious act, and further seek justice by calling the Imo State Government to question. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to book."
