The gunmen who stormed the town around 1.30pm and started shooting indiscriminately were said to have been in the town to rustle domestic animals.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the state Police Command, Gambo Isah, said “It is true. The terrorists struck around 1.30pm and killed six people while six people were injured. Those injured have been evacuated to hospitals for treatment. Our operatives are already on ground there.”

Katsina is one of the states currently being ravaged by bandits’ attacks.

Adamu Aliero a recently turbaned bandits leader had led several attacks on the state, leading to the deaths and abduction of many residents.

The bandit leader was the arrowhead of a deadly raid on Kadisau, a community in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, where about 52 people were killed.

He was declared wanted by the Katsina Police Command in 2019 with a bounty of N5 million on his head.
