Suspected Herdsmen Reportedly Bring Foreign Armed Militia Into Plateau Communities, Kill Six Persons

No fewer than six persons have been reportedly killed in a fresh attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Danda Chugwi in the Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Sources told SaharaReporters on Monday morning that over 30 people were still missing. The police and other security agencies have mobilised personnel to the community. 

One of the sources in text message, said, "There is an attack going on at Danda Chugwi (Jos south LGA) and six people have been confirmed dead. Please be careful and vigilant if you're still outside. 

"Chugwi is after Vom Christian hospital Vwang." 

Meanwhile security alert circulated on Sunday night, advised residents of Jos South and Mangu Barking Ladi local government areas to be watchful. 

The security alert read, "Some communities and villages in Plateau State have been enlisted amongst target places for violent attacks by Fulani militias.  

"According to the sources that plead for their names not to be mentioned, they said that villages/Communities in Gindiri and other parts of Mangu LGA and bordering villages of Fan and Foron Districts in Barkin Ladi LGA would experience serious security challenges including high alarming destruction of crops which will be followed with widespread attacks. 

 "Places such as Kwi, Wereng, Sham, Kuru-Station, Tashek, Byei and Kum of Riyom LGA, and Sabon-Layi and Dabwak of Kuru District in Jos South LGA are to be on red alert as Fulani militias have brought in strange looking faces, attackers that are not Nigerians to help them raiding native villages and communities any moment from now. 

"Other places to be attacked include villages in Jos East, where the hired attackers are presently around the Hill of Jabir to continue their atrocities not only in the LGA, but also Foron axis. 

"For the people of Barkin Ladi LGA, they should continue praying for Col. Abdulsallam not to be taken away. The grandmaster of the militias in Mahanga vowed to make villages of Barkin Ladi and Riyom tumultuous immediately the Colonel transferred or goes for his study leave." 

When contacted, the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer Alfred Alabo, confirmed the attack but could not provide details. 

He simply said that security operatives had been deployed to the area.
