Baba-Ahmed in an interview on Channels TV on Monday, monitored by SaharaReporters, said it was unfair for Okowa to say Obi lacks the experience to lead Nigeria.

The vice-presidential candidate of Labour Party, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed tackled Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State governor and vice-presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party for saying the LP presidential candidate, Peter Obi lacks the experience to lead Nigeria.

Baba-Ahmed in an interview on Channels TV on Monday, monitored by SaharaReporters, said it was unfair for Okowa to say Obi lacks the experience to lead Nigeria.

He urged Okowa to retract his statement, saying it shows he has no idea of what having capacity means.

“That’s absolutely untrue; in fact, I beg you to show me anyone who has had more experience in leadership in 2023 context and by that context I mean the four leading candidates that we have now. I fail to see anyone that even comes close to his Excellency Governor Peter Obi.

“The world is now in a stage where we need private sector experience. Among all of them, no one has as much private sector business sense, prudence, frugality, or ability to manage persons, communities, or interest groups; none of the other three has as much.

“That comment is a very unfair comment and I will like to think that very soon the maker of that comment will have to retract because it shows he has no idea about what capacity is,” he said

Baba-Ahmed also described Labour Party as the only party standing strong, saying the New Nigeria Peoples Party only exists in Kano while the All Progressives Congress is running itself down by the day and the Peoples Democratic Party has proven itself unworthy of wresting power from the APC-led government judging by the way its primaries went.

“Allow me not to call the names of the parties; the one in Kano is just remaining there because, in Kaduna, it is almost gone completely. Ever since I appeared, that party no longer exists in Kaduna from when I declared for Labour Party. It’s never even going into Jigawa, Katsina, it never even got a chance to get in there.

“The other party coming from the party of the day (APC), is running down itself by the day. Again, I don’t want to go into those issues at all; our lives are depreciating by the day and so will their votes fall as Nigerians’ lives, quality of life falls.

“The other party has really not proven itself capable of rescuing power away and it outdid itself from the conduct of its primaries and that leaves only one party standing and standing strong,” he said.

He said there might be no rerun because he’s confident that the Labour Party is powerful enough to win the presidential election.

Speaking on structure, Baba-Ahmed argued that LP has a unique structure, saying it is a people-oriented structure.
