Nigerian Court Sentences Fake American Actor, Five Internet Fraudsters To Jail

The convicts, who were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were identified as Emejom Jude Chinomso, Okolie Collins, Hezekiah Oghenekume, Musa Dauda, Akinselure Adebayo and Obafemi Oluwatosin.

An Edo State High Court Federal sitting in Benin has convicted and sentenced six Internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo Boys to several months in prison for defrauding people.

 

The convicts, who were prosecuted by the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), were identified as Emejom Jude Chinomso, Okolie Collins, Hezekiah Oghenekume, Musa Dauda, Akinselure Adebayo and Obafemi Oluwatosin.

 

One of them was said to have claimed that he was an American actor.

 

Justice Efe Ikponmwonba convicted them on one count of fraud after they pleaded guilty to the charge.

 

The anti-graft agency in a tweet said it secured their conviction on charges bordering on fraud and impersonation.
