The group added that 19 members were also missing following the attack.

The umbrella body of herders in Nigeria, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Plateau chapter has said it lost five members during an attack by bandits.

The group added that 19 members were also missing following the attack.

According to Mallam Mohammad Nura Abdullahi, the state Chairman of MACBAN, bandits from neighbouring Bauchi State attacked the herders in the Mangu local government area of Plateau State while tending to their cows on Tuesday.

Abdullahi said some herders also escaped into the bush and left their cattle behind.

A statement by the state chapters of MACBAN in Plateau and Bauchi states at the end of their meeting in Bauchi on Thursday condemned the gruesome killing of herders in both states, according to Nigerian Tribune.

The statement signed by the chairman of MACBAN in Bauchi, Sadik Ibrahim and his counterpart in Plateau, Abdullahi lamented the incessant attacks on members of the Fulani community by terrorists from Bauchi State.

The MACBAN chairmen said the killings took place in places like Langai, Unguwam Madaki, Chanso and Mungi villages of Plateau State.

They alleged that the bandits kidnapped the victims, took them to the bush and slaughtered them.

During the meeting, the union condemned the killings and promised to collaborate with the security agencies and other well-meaning Nigerians in fighting the menace.

The chairmen urged their members to cooperate with the security agencies.
