Lagos African Action Congress Holds Congress, Elects New Leaders

The executives were elected in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2022. 

The African Action Congress in Lagos State has elected new state executives during its congress held on Sunday. 

The executives were elected in accordance with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2022. 

A statement by Towolawi Jamiu, former secretary of AAC announced Ayoyinka Oni as the new chairman of the party in the state. 

The statement read, “The Lagos Chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) held her congress on the 7th of August 2022. The congress started at about 2.30 pm and was attended by 64 Comrades across 12 local governments. 

“It is very clear that Nigeria is critically in between a revolution and war and we must continue to mobilize and organize as only a revolution can liberate our country. In light of this, the party must continue to engage and be part of every pro-people struggle.  

“It was agreed that both local government and wards must get back to work immediately, especially those that have not been holding meetings. Aside from holding regular meetings, there must also be a strategic plan by every local government to extend leadership to the polling units as it's mandatory that the party must have a polling unit agent at every polling unit in Lagos.  

“Election commences immediately after the state of the party and 52 delegates from 12 local governments participated in the election.  

Below are the results of the election: State Chairman: Ayoyinka Oni (Comrade AY) - 39 votes 

Samson Olanrewaju Sunday (Comrade Pastor) - 12 votes  

Deputy Chairman Lagos East: Abiodun Ebiwonjumi (Comrade Abbey) unopposed 

Deputy Chairman Lagos West: Ayinde Olawale (Comrade Galadima) Unopposed 

Deputy Chairman Lagos Central: Vacant.  

State Secretary: Jegede Kehinde (Unopposed) 

State Publicity Secretary: Osatohamhen Ebhohon (Comrade Osas) - 37 votes 

Oluwaseun Oseni - 15 votes 

Organising Secretary: Samson Olanrewaju Sunday (Comrade Pastor) SEC adoption. 

Treasurer: Wenayon Hungbeme Moses (unopposed); Financial Secretary: Vacant; Legal Adviser: Vacant 

Auditor: Vacant; Youth Leader: Orunsolu Oluremi (Comrade Remitz) unopposed; Woman Leader: Afuwape Olaide (Comrade Debtriz) unopposed 

“The congress ended at about 5.15 pm with solidarity songs and a welcome speech by the new leadership. Below is the complete list of the elected leaders,” the party said.
