Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has arrived in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, to inaugurate a project.

Sanwo-Olu is set to open the Orochiri-Worokwu Flyover in Port Harcourt.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who is in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), invited the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos governor to inaugurate the project.

Sanwo-Olu's arrival in the state was announced on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, in a tweet.

Akosile tweeted: “Flash: Arrival of Governor @jidesanwoolu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital for the formal commissioning of Orochiri-Worokwu Flyover in Port Harcourt City. Gov Sanwoolu-Olu is specially invited by the Rivers State Gov @GovWike.”

This comes after some APC governors paid a visit to Wike in Port Harcourt.

Some PDP members have accused Wike of being too friendly with APC governors since he lost his party’s presidential primary election to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and also failed to emerge as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.

Recall that three governors of the APC were at the private residence of Governor Wike for a closed-door meeting in July.

The governors are Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo.

Also present at the meeting was a former Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose.

The details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed but it might be connected with the 2023 presidential election.

Wike, a chieftain and financier of the PDP, is expected to back his party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar but there are speculations that Wike may not support Atiku to win the election after being passed over for the vice-presidential ticket.
