Akwa Ibom Tops As Nigeria Centre For Disease Control Confirms 517 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 517 new cases of coronavirus pandemic, otherwise known as COVID-19 in 31 states.

In the tweet, NCDC explained that the fresh infections record included a backlog of 258 cases for Akwa Ibom from July 3, 2022.

 

 

 

These cases, it stated, were reported in 14 states with Lagos State coming second after Akwa Ibom with 101 new infections. Rivers State follows with 54.

 

 

 

According to the NCDC, five states comprising Cross River, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, and Sokoto recorded zero cases within the period.

 

 

 

With the new cases, Nigeria now has a total of 262,402 confirmed cases nationwide, since the first COVID-19 case was reported in late February 2020.

 

 

 

Of the confirmed cases 256,006 people have been discharged while the number of those who died from complications related to the disease stands at 3,147.

 

 

 

The tweet read, "517 new cases of #COVID19Nigeria; Akwa Ibom-293; Lagos-101; Rivers-54; FCT-13; Ekiti-11; Delta-9; Kano-9; Bayelsa-7; Kaduna-6; Oyo-5; Abia-3; Kwara-2; Nasarawa-2; Plateau-2.
