2023 Elections: Lagos AAC To Unveil Governorship, Legislative Candidates, Says Metropolis Should Not Be Second Worst City To Live In Globally

The candidates and those vying for legislative seats along with the blueprint will be announced on Saturday.

The African Action Congress (AAC), Lagos State Chapter is set to unveil Akeem Olayiwola and Ben Eze as its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2023 general elections.

The candidates and those vying for legislative seats along with the blueprint will be announced on Saturday at Ikeja in Lagos State.

The party asserted that the candidates are coming to show their individual achievements and radical leaps, stressing that they are coming to serve as symbols of the collective ïnterests of both the party and the people.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Osatohamhen Ebhohon, who noted that the candidates would be coming into the governorship contest with a unique and distinctive blueprint titled ‘The Lagos We Want’.

He said; “While both are coming to show their individual achievements and radical leaps, they are coming to serve as symbols of the collective ïnterests of both the party and the people.

“The party’s candidates for the House of Assembly from Ikorodu to Badagry will also be unveiled the same day.

“The Lagos AAC has been the major opposition party practically since 2019.

“The party has been keeping the APC misgovernance in check, leading radical actions and pro-people interventions against anti-democratic struggles, to defend people who are daily being made homeless; to electricity struggles to campaign against people paying for darkness and crazy bills; to the #RevolutionNow protests.

“AAC remains the most pragmatic and responsible opposition party in Lagos State.

‘When other parties lacked the courage to engage with the anti-police brutality struggles, AAC was the only political party that officially joined and played leading roles in the #EndSARS movements.

“While the ruling class drowned that great youth, rising in blood, AAC was the only party that had the courage to mobilize and organize with radical lawyers, civil society, and the victims of #LekkiMassacre to engage with the EndSARS Judicial Panel of Enquiry and defeated the Lagos rulers in a historic judgment which rattled the globe.

“AAC has also built great working relationships with formal and informal workers and their organizations, participating in their day-to-day actions.

“AAC has learned so much from the masses and has built structures in the nooks and crannies of Lagos.

“AAC believes Lagos has no reason to be the second worst city to be lived in the world.

“A mega city must be able to develop both physically and socially in a mega manner.”
