Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that he mentioned to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, that the two words he (Tinubu) recently used prior to the APC election – Emilokan and Olule – have become popular among Nigerians.

Emilokan and Olule loosely translated respectively as “it’s my turn” and “he fell to the ground” were used by Tinubu when he spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during his consultation prior to the APC presidential primary, in his desperation to clinch the ticket.

Tinubu had bragged that it was his turn to become the APC candidate and had also recalled how President Muhammadu Buhari “fell” during his three previous attempts to become president until he ran under the APC in 2015.

During the week, Tinubu had visited his political foe, Obasanjo and sought his support for the 2023 general elections.

Although the duo had kept mum over what played out at the meeting, it was speculated that the meeting was to seek Obasanjo’s support in the 2023 presidential election.

Obasanjo, who spoke at the inauguration of a 300-man planning committee on the installation of the new Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, said he told Tinubu that the APC candidate had added two phrases recently used by the former Lagos Governor to Yoruba vocabularies.

He said, “We now have two vocabularies in the Yoruba dictionary, ‘Emilokan’ and ‘Olule’. These two vocabularies are now popularly used”.

“I asked Bola and he laughed. I said whether the vocabularies are good or bad, we have started using them.”
