The NNPP Borno State governorship candidate, Dr Umaru Alkali, confirmed this while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri.

The Nigeria Police Force, Borno State command, has sealed off the state headquarters of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Maiduguri, the state capital, amidst the crisis rocking the party.

The party’s headquarters alongside some of its offices were sealed by the Borno State Urban Development Management Board on Thursday, Daily Trust reports.

The NNPP Borno State governorship candidate, Dr Umaru Alkali, confirmed this while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri.

He added that the party’s Central Senatorial Candidate, Hon Attom Muhammad Maigira, was arrested after he honoured a police invitation and he was currently behind the bar.

He said the policemen were deployed to the party secretariat along Abbaganaram and Gidan Maradara area between Wednesday and Thursday to prevent the party members entry into their offices.

A visit to the Abbagannaram junction at exactly 11:30am confirmed the presence of dozens of anti-riot policemen and civilians joint task force (CJTF) who were stationed there with patrol vehicles.

SaharaReporters had on Wednesday reported that former Governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, planned to dump the NNPP, citing several reasons.
Shekarau, who is currently representing the Kano Central Senatorial district, had confirmed his defection plan even as he did not disclose the party he was defecting to while addressing a crowd of supporters at the Kano Foundation office along BUK Road.

While accusing Kwankwaso of not only betraying him, he had said the presidential candidate also humiliated him, while narrating what transpired between him and Kwankwaso during his brief stay in the NNPP.
