Wike recently met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu.
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees and former governor of Plateau State, Fidelis Tapgun, has accused River governor, Nyesom Wike of engaging in anti-party activities.
Wike recently met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that the private meeting between Tinubu and Wike in London, United Kingdom, had unsettled the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Wike, who came second during the presidential primaries of the PDP has been at loggerheads with Atiku following the selection of the Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.
Meanwhile, Wike has since held meetings with chieftains of the ruling APC. He has also met with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
On the part of the APC, it was learnt that Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Kayode Fayemi, were part of the meeting Wike had with Tinubu.
Meanwhile, on the part of the PDP, Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde were also part of the meeting.
However, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees and former governor of Plateau state, Fidelis Tapgun told The PUNCH that Wike cannot be in the PDP and be engaging in anti-party activities.
Tapgun urged Wike to stop behaving as if he owns the PDP, adding that if not that if for some PDP chieftains who want reconciliation in the party, the governor would have been sanctioned by the leadership of the party.
He said; “How can you be in the PDP and every time, he (Wike) is seen or heard romancing with the opposition politicians? What does that mean if not anti-party (activity).
“The PDP owns Wike and not the other way round. The way he is going is not good for the party and he should stop that.
“If not that some of us want reconciliation in the party, he should have been disciplined long ago. I expect him to know this and stop making things difficult for the PDP in its quest to liberate Nigerians from the bad governance foisted on them by the ruling All Progressives Congress.”
