The incident took place in Lagos State's Oko-Oba neighbourhood.

The father of a three-month-old baby, a doctor, and a nurse have been reportedly detained by the police command in Lagos State for allegedly selling the child for N400,000.

On Friday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesman, confirmed the arrest on his verified Twitter account.

According to Hundeyin, the incident took place in Lagos State's Oko-Oba neighbourhood.

“A father connived with his doctor and a nurse (names not mentioned) sold his three-month-old baby to a woman for N400.000 without the knowledge of the mother.

“After days of searching, the police was informed. All suspects arrested. Baby is safe,” he said.

The spokesman said that the State Central Investigation Department (SCID), Panti was in charge of the investigation and will charge the suspects to court soon.

Similarly, SaharaReporters on Thursday reported that the Ogun State Police Command arrested a 23-year-old woman, Mary Olatayo, for allegedly selling her three weeks old baby for N600,000.

The police had said the suspect was arrested following a complaint from the father of the baby, claiming that the father reported the matter at Mowe divisional headquarters, narrating that he met Mary Olatayo sometime ago and they started dating each other.
