A former Secretary to the Imo State Government, Mr Uche Onyeagucha, has decried the sealing of his campaign office by the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led state government.

Onyeagucha who was the SSG under the short-lived administration of former governor Emeka Ihedioha, warned the governor to desist from playing with "the Lion’s tale.”

The Senatorial Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Imo East Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections stated this in a statement issued through his Special Assistant on Media, MacDonald Enwere, in Owerri on Saturday.

The statement which SaharaReporters obtained reads, “The attention of Hon. Barr. Uche Onyeagucha, the PDP candidate for Imo East Senatorial District has been drawn to the recent sealing of his campaign office located at No. 23 Ihugba Street Owerri, by Governor Hope Uzodimma using his Chief Tug, Chinasa Nwaneri and fully armed members of his infamous Ebubeagu militia numbering over 30.

“On Thursday, 25th August, 2022, this proscribed daredevil army invaded and sealed off the said Campaign Office which is under renovation.

“When they were accosted by some indigenes at the site, one of the operatives of the fearful looking squad ordered people to steer clear of the building area because their mission is politically motivated."

It added, “After Sealing up the building, the team which had instilled fear in innocent passers-by who scampered for safety immediately left.

“We are well aware that such despotic shenanigan is another onslaught by Governor Uzodimma, who had only about a week ago sponsored a failed protest against Hon. Onyeagucha for allegedly sponsoring insecurity in Omuma, the Governor’s hometown and other places in the state.

“After the failed sponsored protest Governor Uzodimma’s Ebubeagu thugs have been used to seal-up Barr. Onyeagucha’s Campaign Office, a family house that was built in 1977 and demanded for building permits as well as other paperwork. Discerning minds have reasoned that Gov. Uzodimma is merely scheming at importing insecurity into Owerri Zone."
