BREAKING: Court Refuses Bail Application Of Disgraced Nigerian 'Super Cop' Abba Kyari, Others, Fixes October For Trial

In his judgement on Tuesday in the nation's capital, Justice Emeka Nwite set the trial dates.

The trial dates for the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, and four others have been set by the Federal High Court in Abuja for October 19, 20, and 21.

In his judgement on Tuesday in the nation's capital, Justice Emeka Nwite set the trial dates.

He also refused bail for suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari and four others.

SaharaReporters had reported that the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, warned the court against granting bail to suspended DCP Kyari in his ongoing extradition case.

Malami had warned that the suspended DCP could abscond if granted bail.

The AGF had made this known in a counter-affidavit to the bail application by Kyari.

It was in the document that the AGF told the court that Kyari was being untruthful about his health going by the fact that the medical report he “paraded” was issued three years ago.

The police officers are being prosecuted by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on cocaine-related charges.

As the second to fifth defendants, Kyari was arraigned with four suspended police officers, including ACP Sunday Ubia, ASP James, Inspector Simon Agirigba, and Inspector John Nuhu.

In his decision on the bail application, Nwite stated that the applicants failed to offer sufficient papers and evidence to justify the issuance of the fresh application.

As a result, Justice Nwite confirmed his earlier ruling of March 28, 2022, ordering an expedited hearing.

Meanwhile, the accused will be held at Abuja's Kuje Correctional Centre until their trial begins in October.
