Police confirmed that five persons, including Ubah’s aides and police escorts attached to him, were killed in the attack.

Bianca Ojukwu, wife of the late Biafran warlord, Ikemba Odumegwu Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, has described the attack on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy as another "abominable threshold crossed."

Bianca, while condemning the act in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Monday, added that Anambra was bleeding.

Bianca, who is from Anambra South, said, “I mourn with the people of Anambra and Sen. Ubah over the horrific attack on his motorcade.

“Many lives were lost in this satanic ambush, folks who just set out for the day, just another ordinary day, but never made it home, their lives brutally cut short by heartless gunmen.

“Their families are bleeding, Anambra is bleeding. We are all bleeding for this rain of bullets is falling on our collective roofs, and with each gruesome attack, another abominable threshold is crossed.”

SaharaReporters had earlier reported that Ubah’s convoy was ambushed around 5pm on Sunday, close to Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu Market, as it headed to Nnewi.

Close aides – Goodness Mathias and Obum Ikechukwu – and some security personnel died at the scene.
