Difficult Times Lie Ahead – European Union Warns Over Protracted Russian-Ukraine War

The EU President who warned that the future of European countries is at stake was quoted by Peoples Gazette as saying that “The moments ahead of us will not be easy.”
 

 

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Wednesday said that there are impending difficult times ahead for European households and businesses because of the ongoing Russian-Ukraine war.
The EU President who warned that the future of European countries is at stake was quoted by Peoples Gazette as saying that “The moments ahead of us will not be easy.”
Von der Leyen who spoke at the European Parliament in Strasbourg added that “Be it for the families who are struggling to make ends, needs, or businesses which are facing tough choices concerning their future.”
“Let us be very clear. Much is at stake, not just for Ukraine but for all of Europe and the world at large. This is not only a war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine. This is also a war on our energy. It’s a war on our economy.
“It’s a war on our values; it is a war on our future,” she added.
It was gathered that inflation hit 9.1 percent in the Euro area in August, a condition which was largely fueled by energy costs which Roseto 38.3 percent when compared to last year.
The current Inflation rise in the EU countries has raised concerns of a potential recession in the near future.
