Nigerian Polytechnic Bans Signing Of T-shirts, Other Forms Of Celebration By Graduating Students

The management authorised the chief security officer and other security agencies to ensure that the rules and regulations are enforced.

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger state has banned the signing of T-shirts by graduating students.

Other forms of celebration including splashing of water on one another and car racing were also banned till further notice.

This was contained in the circular dated September 14, 2022 and signed by the institution’s Registrar, Hussaini Muhammed Enagi.

The management authorised the chief security officer and other security agencies to ensure that the rules and regulations are enforced.

“This is to draw the attention of all students, most especially, graduating students, that as the second-semester examinations have commenced. Management wishes to strongly warn all students that it will not condone any act of irresponsible celebration by graduating or other students in the form of pouring water on each other, signing-out on clothes or bodies and other forms of indecent conduct either on or off-campus,” the circular read.

“Students are therefore strongly enjoined to note that the Students Information Handbook Section G, 23.0 (Code of Conduct and Range of Penalties), No. 49 has prohibited the above-mentioned acts.

“Consequently, any student caught violating the above-cited provision will be severely dealt with in line with the laws of the Polytechnic.

“The Chief Security Officer, Committee on Decent Conduct and other relevant authorities are hereby directed to enforce total compliance.”
