US-based Nigerian professor, Uju Anya has fired back at the popular UK television personality, Piers Morgan, saying his career died in excruciating pain.

Anya made the comment as she turned down Morgan's antagonistic interview request to speak with her about her comment on the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Anya, who teaches Linguistics at Carnegie Mellon University, US, has been in the news since last week after her controversial tweet against Queen Elizabeth before she died.

Hearing about the late Queen's worsening health before she died on September 8, Anya tweeted, “I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.”

The controversial tweet generated mixed reactions on social media with some tweeps including the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos berating Anya while some supported and defended her.

Reacting to the controversial tweet, Morgan on Thursday requested an interview with Anya, which she turned down.

Morgan in a tweet wrote, "I definitely want to interview you. I would like you to try repeating to my face that you hoped the Queen died in 'excruciating pain.' But I suspect like most vile 'woke' trolls, you won't have the guts. Do you?"

Prof. Anya, while turning down Morgan's interview request, replied and said, "Piers Morgan calling me “vile, disgusting moron” while his producer calling me for interview. Tufiakwa (God forbid).

"No, Piers. You want to interview me, because your career died in excruciating pain, and you need the ratings. But I won’t let you chase clout off me. Like I said, I no dey put food for my enemy mouth."
